For I Know What I Am

I ran,

I left the world behind.

Like specks of ash floating on by.

The world was burning,

I had to depart.

For to leave this world,

Is to preserve your own heart.

Alone I am,

But lonely, I am not.

I am my own friend,

I am my own God.

Turn back, I won’t,

Sorry, I’m not,

For I know what I am,

And what I am not.
