of this loving bond

can be rent in a moment:

an angry word

a vicious retaliation

a painful retort

a bringing up of a past incident

an unthoughtful judgement

a withdrawal of energy

a pullback of sweetness

a glare, a punch, a sideward glance

an eye rolling dance -

this delicate membrane
